Dietitian’s Review of Caulipower’s Cauliflower Pizza Crust

While making the crust from scratch may be more exciting to some, not everybody’s got time for that! I opted to order a Caulipower’s Cauliflower Pizza Crust online, set aside a night in the week and customize it. I will be honest, I am a proponent of making things from scratch so I was a bit hesitant at first. Because I am always on the go the trade-off for something less time-consuming was the most obvious choice. Once again, cauliflower proved its worth AND its versatility while my family and I all got down on this deliciousness.

Caulipower Pizza Crust Nutritional Information

Being a registered dietitian means that I am constantly and cautiously reading the labels on any prepacked foods that I eat, and furthermore: comparing them. After browsing enough recipes I stumbled upon Caulipower’s Cauliflower Crust Pizza, and I was impressed with the reviews and its ranking under Amazon’s Choice.  Some of the nutritional facts which caught my eye were:

  • PROTEIN – 12 GRAMS (19% of Daily Value)

  • VITAMIN C – 40%

  • CALCIUM – 30%

  • VITAMIN D – 15%

  • 2 GRAMS OF SUGAR

Some of additional nutrients that you will find in cauliflower that are not mentioned on the label include manganese, vitamin K, omega-3’s and even phytonutrients!

SPINACH: A SUPERFOOD!

Spinach is…well, let’s just say it’s ridiculous. Everyone knows it offers health benefits that are unmatched by many other vegetables and fruits, but not everyone knows what those nutrients are. Some of the nutrients you will find include vitamin K, vitamin A (carotenoids), manganese, folate, magnesium, iron, copper, vitamin B2, vitamin B6, vitamin E, calcium, potassium and vitamin C. BANANA PEPPERS: FLAVORFUL AND HEALTHY

These sweet and hot little snacks offer WAY more than just flavor. Did you know that along with their low caloric value that they are actually high in vitamin content? Banana peppers are a fantastic (and delicious!) way to introduce more vitamin B6, vitamin C and folate into your diet. In other words, they are good for the heart and can reduce the likelihood of certain types of cancers.

DEER MEAT: LEAN AND NUTRITIOUS

While I recommend using deer meat, any lean meat will do as venison isn’t always readily available. I am personally a huge fan of cooking with wild game, and ground deer meat on pizza proved to be just as delectable as it sounds! Three ounces of venison contain 134 calories and only 3 grams of total fat!
